1. Apple cider vinegar
Indications : Relief for especially dry, itchy skin.
Properties: Antibacterial and anti-fungal.
How to use: Simply make mixture of 50% apple cider vinegar and 50% water in spray bottle and sprat your dog’s itchy spot with this solution.
Note: Never use apple cider vinegar on open wound it can be painful for dogs.
2. Aelovera
Indications: Eczema, allergies, yeast infections, and even insect bites and stings.
Properties: Soothing, cooling and anti-inflammatory.
How to use: Apply aelovera directly on affected area of skin, it is a powerful healing agent and it also reduce redness.
3. Backing soda
Indications: Rashes on the skin, itching, redness, inflammation.
Properties: Soothing and anti inflammatory.
How to use: Combine 50% of backing soda and 50% water and apply paste on dog’s skin and rise it after 15 minutes.
4. Coconut oil
Indications: Hot spots, bites, stings, or itchy, dry skin.
Properties: Anti inflammatory and soothing.
How to use: Direct massage on the affected areas of skin.
5. Green tea
Indications: Hot, itchy patches of skin.
Properties: Anti inflammatory and anti oxidant.
How to use: fill up the tub or sink with warm water and let several tea bags steep for five minute and remove tea bags and soak the dog in bath for at least five minutes.
6. Oat meal bath
Indications: Dry & itchy skin
Properties: Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.
How to use: Sprinkle ground oatmeal into warm bath , let your dog soak for 10 to 15 minute or make a oatmeal paste and apply directly on local areas of skin.
When to consult vet ?
- Mild itching occasionally isn’t the sign of serious health condition and you can easily treat them at home with this natural remedies but if your dog have a frequent and persistent itching or if your dog is developing self-inflicted wounds due to the itching and dog become uncomfortable, restlessness and loss of appetite it is most definitely time for a visit to the vet.
